I'm going to join the Sea Org - see ya in a billion years

Just finished the longest freakin article ever on Paul Haggis's 35 years as a Scientologist.  It's a very interesting and informative article, not too biased, and worth the read if you have like 2 weeks of free time.  

If not, here's a notable quote:

The Sea Org became the [Church of Scientology]’s equivalent of a religious order. The group now has six thousand members. They perform tasks such as counselling, maintaining the church’s vast property holdings, and publishing its official literature. Sea Org initiates—some of whom are children—sign contracts for up to a billion years of service.

And the last line of the article sums it up nicely:

“I was in a cult for thirty-four years. Everyone else could see it. I don’t know why I couldn’t.”
